Interreligious Gathering of Women
Women are the backbone of every society and to empower and invest in their education and empowerment is the way forward. Change can come about when women are set free from all types of bondage. Women have that instilled power within them to go to any end to make a difference in their lives and the lives of their children.
Information is power and is the vehicle through which change happens. As we began to interact and speak about the role of women to go beyond the confines of the home, there was a nodding of the head. Somewhere deep down within, women are unhappy with the situation but they fail to raise their voices.
As the women who live on the periphery from Aashray Abhiyan began to share their journey of struggle, we could feel the hall still and listening eagerly to their story. Those were brave women, Rukmin devi,. Kusum devi, Shardha devi, Ratan devi, Lalti devi, Tanuja Kumari, Anu Kumari to put their story before an unknown group.
In conclusion they were left with a question - how does it matter how people live under a plastic sheet, go to bed hungry, we continue to live our lives eating ice cream and enjoying life.
