After the historical meeting with the Commissioner of the Patna Municipal Corporation, the change of language from slums to ‘Dwelling Units’ had a profound impact on the communities. What was important was to translate this into action that could be measurable. With this drive in mind there was a decision to provide at least basic amenities for water, electricity and toilets for the community. It was this which made the officials to move out of their offices and go to where people live. The need assessment drive brought us to the harsh reality of life and the struggles of the people who live on the periphery. With this in mind the decision to construct toilets and install submersible in the area was taken.
