After much running around finally we got a vehicular pass for Aashray Abhiyan. Because of this we were in a position to visit the communities and to find out how they were managing. It was heartening to listen to the stories of the people. They were somehow managing and were trying to be alive in spite of frugal meals. All were in need of food and said they would die of hunger. It broke our hearts to know of their struggles and then we decided that though the government says the rations will be coming it will take a while before this happens. It was heartening to hear of how in a certain community people collected money and bought two sacks of rice and distributed them among the hungry families. Humanity is still alive I thought.
