Closure of the Centenary Celebration of the archdiocese of Patna
With hearts full of gratitude the Archbishop of Patna – William D’Souza SJ along with the priest, religious and the faithful of the archdiocese of Patna ushered in the centenary year on the 29th November2018. Right through the centenary year there were celebrations of renewal and spiritual exercises at deanery level. Every group was given importance and a celebration was organized with the Eucharist being the highlight.
The conclusion of the centenary celebration was organized on the 29th November with the Eucharistic celebration at 10.00 am on the grounds of St. Michael’s school, 35 bishops from across the country were present for the celebration. Cardinal Oswald gracias was the chief celebrant and the chief Guest. The solemnity of the occasion was marked with the concelebrating of 9 Archbishop’s and bishops and about 250 priests and 800 Religious women and 5000 laity.
The valedictory ceremony in the evening at 4.00pm on the same grounds was a taste of the 100 years of history depicted in a 35 minute dance drama by the students of Hartman’s school. Other institutions that participated were St. Michael’s, St. Xavier’s, Notre dame, Loyola High School depicting the culture of bihar, Bihar anthem, prayer dance. It was a feast to the eyes and the Gathering of archbishop, bishops and faithful enjoyed the evening.
As we move into another centenary, our hearts are raised with praise and gratitude to God for the many blessings received for our ancestors who toiled hard to sow the seeds; and now it is our time to take this legacy forward.
