Demolition of Punai Chak
It was a very wet day, the rains began around 10.00 am till 10 pm nonstop. In such a situation any normal human person would not want to add to the already misery the rain brings to people on the margins. But I begin to realize that there also people in our society and in our administration who have become so inhuman, where the law becomes so important not the spirit.
JCBs bulldozed into the houses of the community, most of them had gone to work and destroyed their huts in a few seconds. People stood there drenched and unable to accept this kind of operation. Violation of all sorts began to happen, abusive language and disrespect for the human person…..making them feel as if they were terrorists and that they have no right to be where they were.
The entire day was spent standing in the pouring rain, hungry with nothing to eat the whole day and night was rather frightening. The women asked us: what will happen to our young girls, do we not have respect”? “what about the studies of our children. Where will they go”.
In the face of gross violation of human rights the administration of Bihar has to fall under the scanner of Human Rights.
