Dialogue with the young women at the sewing centers

Our objective to conduct sewing training to the young women who hail from the Economically Weaker of sections is to empower them. Empowerment is a process and it invites ones to look at our thought process. It is the thought process that determines us into action. These actions are more often perpetuated from one generation to the other. In our dialogue with the young women from Digha center it was quite evident that most of them were quite aware of the outside world. Yet many of them were diffident to ask questions; to open their mouths. They believe that what their parents say is correct, which is to some extent true but they do not have the freedom to express their views, this is quite evident in the manner in which they behave. There is a long journey ahead, yet we have begun the dialogue and we wish to further take it forward.
