Guidance during Internship
Aiyushi Sinha, a young student pursuing her B. Tech in Computer engineering, a resident of Patna visited our office along with her father. She shared with us that she was a student of B.Tech, studying in Dehradun. She has been told by her college that she needs to do at least a month’s engagement in the social sector. Interacting with her, I asked what the connection was.
This opened the door of conversation and we began to reflect how in today’s curriculum, how students have no idea of the society in which we live, their narrow engagement in the world of study keeps them aloof from the realities of life. It is a good idea that these young people spend a month with the less privileged. Society gives us so much, a time must come in out lives, when we feel the need to return to society what we have received in abundance.
Aiyushi spent her days at TV Tower, learning center and Sahgaadi Masjid settlement. Her interaction, keenness with the children filled her with love and compassion for them. She mingled well and was touched by the poverty and living conditions of the community. She was impressed by the eagerness of the children to learn English and with the bare minimum they always wear a smile on their face.
At the end of her time with the children, she was moved to share some of her clothes and other belongings with the children as she bade them good bye to leave for her college. Such experiences fill us with hope that there will come a time when the equataions will change and we will move towards being a truly Global community
