Interacting with communities living in settlements

Once there was a relaxation in the lockdown, our team at Aashray Abhiyan , swung into action. They began visiting the communities interacting with them. Some of them were afraid of the probable demolition of their homes. To the government it is only a hut but for the people living in the settlements it is their home. Ironically, the government and the administration are violating their own norms and policies. Some of the slums are notified and yet without any understanding or without any information have approved the developmental projects without taking into consideration any of the rehabilitation process. Where do people go, when they have been living in a particular place for more than 4 decades? The government and the administration are evading their responsibilities. Unfortunately, there is no platform where these issues can be raised, no redressable system, in this 21st century this is more than a matter of shame. Our struggle continues as we raise our voices and move into action mode to address this injustice being done to people on the periphery.
