Orientation to the young women from Bazitpur

This has been a new center and we have been engaging with the young women, who come from very mediocre families. It is perhaps the first time that desire to come out and be skilled has become important for them. As we began the dialogue, they were initially hesitant but they slowly began to ask questions. They were invited to look at some of their practices of festivals. We did an analysis and invited them to think about the meaning behind it. Slowly there was a growing realization as to how they as young women need to begin to write their own story and not to become slaves to cultures and practices that domesticate them. After a three hours orientation, they were served snacks. As they left they were grateful for the opportunity they received to get to know about a wider world.
