Promoting values of Gandhi – Peace and non- violence
In the present context of our country, everywhere we hear of hatred and venom being spread in the country, to the extent that the young people are not even spared. Our reflection as a team made us aware that the struggle between the ideology of Gandhi and that of Godse is flooding the minds of the young. We decided that if there is a need to keep Gandhi’s ideology alive then the time is now. What better day could we choose than the birth of Gandhi. We at Patna, Aashray Abhiyan organized people in the famous Gandhi Maidan from the 5 settlements to pay our homage and to honor this disciple of Peace and non violence.
After offering floral tributes to the life size statue erected in the famous Gandhi Maidan, we remembered with gratitude the Freedom which we enjoy today. This struggle movement was initiated by the Mahatma, a single man who with a sense of determination and clarity led India’s masses to Freedom.
It was also a time to search for an alternative to counteract the hatred and the venom that is being spread around by fanatics. The nationwide campaign “Mere Ghar aakar toh dekho – Come to my house and see”. The women, men and youth from the settlements sat around as they were being addressed by different people on the depth and vision of Gandhi. These speeches were intercepted by interreligious and patriotic songs.
The concept of the campaign “Mere Ghar aakar toh dekho was explained, and the theme song was played as people listened with great gusto and interacted with each other. After which they formed groups according to their settlement and then shared about themselves…embraced each other and the air was filled with joy and laughter. After this was done, they sat in a circle and shared a meal together, there was joy in the air and some of the comments were worth recording. बहुत ही अच्छा लगा, दिल हल्का हो गया .....अब हम अपने मोहल्ले में करेंगे......So positive...so life giving
