The vendors who sell fresh goods are the ones who are always at the receiving end. They toil tirelessly and yet are never safeguarded and secure from the clutches of the administration and the law enforcing agencies. The site is near the secretariat, where vendors have been selling their goods for last four to five decades. Suddenly they are told not to sell their goods and their livelihood has been snatched for near to three months. Our team members were on the job trying to liaison with the officials and the law enforcing agencies. It appears that simple people who are trying to making a living are treated as criminals, their goods destroyed and over and above all this, they have to pay a fine and have to pay again to get their goods released. This is all in violation of the Street Vendors Act 2014
