Remembering Venerable Nano
It was with great joy and happiness that we gathered together as
“Aashray Abhiyan” family to celebrate the life our dear Nano. We began by paying floral tributes to her image with great reverence, respect. With a power point presentation on some of the turning points in the life of Nano which did impress them to a great extent. When we began our sharing voices were heard:
she was a rich lady, yet she went out to serve the poor; her schools were inspirational educating the children, visiting the elderly and the sick, when she ran short of money, she did not hesitate to beg in Cork. . A good discussion emerged and I was struck by the suggestion of Rukmini devi: we must try and build either a memorial or a place of resting for people. Her suggestion resounded with all the other leaders who had gathered together. After a very good sharing, we had a meal together to strengthen the bonds that exist among us. Though we lack space, all were comfortable to sit on the durrie (coarse carpet) . it was a simple and meaningful celebration together,
