Urban Housing discourse
Our journey for advocacy for housing for the urban city makers of Patna has been a long journey. We have been awakening our communities to demand for their rights in accordance with the schemes of the government. Unfortunately, no government has been working for the betterment development of the communities who live on the periphery. They are forced to live in subhuman conditions while they contribute to the GDP of the state.
There is an urgent need to change the mindset of those in authority and power and their perception of the people. There are many myths that bureaucrats and officials carry and the narration is what makes the needs of the communities remain unanswered.
It was an opportunity of taking up the housing issue with the ex minister of education Mr. Bishen Patel that things began to take shape. He put forth the work of Aashray Abhiyan and our campaign for housing for years to the President of the RJD Shri Jagdanand. He was rather impressed and read minutely all the documents prepared about our long struggle. He offered to preside over the Gathering and also made the hall available to us. His concluding remark that our office has been blessed today by the poor who came for this discourse. The large number of people who attended the meeting was very impressive, as they came forward to place their story before the RJD leaders Bhishen Patel, Shyam Rajak ex food Security minister, Uday Narayan ex speaker of the Bihar Assembly.
