Celebrating 75 years of Independence Day
We were in a dilemma as to whether we should celebrate Independence Day or not? The scenario in the country is not one of celebration as most people are struggling with high prices on basic food items. Unemployment is on the rise, corruption has become common, and democracy is slowly crumbling down. With these realities what is there to celebrate; but we caught ourselves and said there is a need to remember those valiant people who laid down their lives for attaining freedom. The sacrifice of those who gave up their lives could not be forgotten. We decided to use this occasion to speak to people about the hike in prices and the struggle of the people. To become aware of the rules, policies of the government that is now a threat to our democracy and the constitution of our country being at stake.
The flag was hoisted at 5 sewing centers and one among the construction workers. There were quite a few people gathered and many of them proved to be the ones who are struggling in their simple yet patriotic manner they came to celebrate, even though freedom means nothing for them, they have to sweat it out, they have to struggle without any security. Yet they have to work or there is no food available. The young women dream dreams of reaching to heights and making a difference
