Celebrating Independence Day
Each year when it comes to celebrating Independence Day, there is always a question in our minds, are we really free, what are we celebrating? This year due to the custodial death of Stan, and the other under trails, we began to debate on how appropriate it is to celebrate Independence day. However, some of the members felt we should hoist the flag. Each of them went to different points to be with the communities.
At Siphara, flag was hoisted among the construction workers. TV tower, Digha, Chitkohra sewing centers, the young girls and women hoisted the flag. We try to instill patriotic values, though it saddens us to know that the youth of today neither remember the date and year of when Indian became independent. Our efforts will continueso that our children will not grow up with a distorted history.
