Celebrating Teacher’s Day
Every human person is what or who he or she is due to the basic foundation they received in school their foundational years. The teachers who toil to make children learn and write at a tender age are the real artisans of their future. Down the years according to our Indian culture and tradition there exists a strong bond between the Guru and the shishya – the teacher and the student. This has been of great value as we grew up to respect, revere and uphold our teachers who taught us great value. Somehow down the ages in our present times, we find that there is an erosion of these values. In order to help our young girls and women to uphold these values we gathered to express their gratitude and appreciation for the role of the teachers. They are now learning the art of sewing and will soon become economically empowered.
The girls expressed their respect through dance, song and speech of what they felt. They were as free as they swung to the music which filled them with great gusto. The very young, the not so young were inspired by those who took to the stage as they enjoyed their freedom. A thought came to mind, after a few years, what will happen to these young girls. My prayer is that as they grow into womanhood they will embody this freedom and become change makers into the future.
