Centenary celebration Gathering of Social workers
Patna archdiocese celebrates 100 years of its existence and different groups have been coming together to celebrate. 16th October was dedicated for all those engaged in the ministry of social worker. About 54 partners of the archdiocese met around 9.00 am with the opening prayer, lighting of the lamp and presentation of the history of the archdiocese. Each organization presented a slid with a brief description of their engagement and the groups they serve they were each felicitated with a shield.
Some organizations presented a short cultural activity and it was on the whole a very meaningful gathering. During the Eucharistic celebration Archbishop William D’Souza spoke of the spirit of service as the hallmark of us Catholics and that this is truly religion. He went on to acknowledge that 80% of Religious women contribute in this sector and work under difficult and at times dangerous conditions. He acknowledged that the multi religious dimension of the group gave us the flavor that we are together in mission. He acknowledged that this Gathering was special as it was vibrant and also diverse the richness of our Indian culture. He said that the prayer of Hindus – the Sanskrit hymn: lead me from untruth to Truth; from darkness to Light; from death to Immortality is truly portrayed in your work among the least of our section.
After a very delicious lunch served for nearly 400 people at 3.30, the program came to a conclusion and most of the people who came from the far off mission stations left for their homes.
