Christmas celebration at St. Xavier’s

It was a joy when the Principal of St. Xavier’s, Fr. Christy SJ, invited us to bring along some 50 elderly women and men to witness the Christmas celebration. We identified the neediest people in our contact and got some 50 women and men. It was a beautiful program and the people who came from the periphery, enjoyed the young children performing as they danced to music. The most important was when the students of the school sat in silence and watched the performance. Mid way the 50 people were called on stage and the Principal addressed the students and invited me to share the background of the people. As I addressed the Gathering the audience listened in perfect silence. Then the moment came when each child came up with a blanket and handed it over to one of the persons from the periphery. It was a moment of Joy and thanksgiving. The true Spirit of Christmas was demonstrated. The blankets came from the collection made by the children and they witnessed their contribution turned into blankets to the poor and neglected.
