Combatting human Trafficking
The modern slavery is a dark spot on our development across the Globe. Human trafficking for various reasons has become so rampant and there are big players involved in this menace. International boundaries have become porous, and this has made the vulnerable sections of our society in a dangerous situation.
During the Annual General Body Meeting held at Kolkata, 170 religious women gathered together from 24 to 26, November 2023, who are working to combat human trafficking. The work of some of our sisters who are missioned in the source states their lives are at stake. Yet they work with great commitment and dedication to rescue the young girls from the clutches of the modern day slavery.
As women it’s our bounden duty to work tirelessly for every form of modern slavery. We are being called to walk with our eyes open and feet on the ground. We are being invited to believe that even a small step in the right direction can go a long way to rescue the child from this horror.
It was great to be with Amala from Goa and have at least another PBVM who is working on this issue. Lisa, we missed as the journey was too tedious.
Let’s be open, alert to the vulnerabilities that we are facing around us. How children are being lured, how their childhood is being snatched away from them. Jesus said: “Let the little children come to me, for to such as these belongs the Kingdom of God.
