Conducting survey in the communities
When the lockdown was lifted in Patna and our team visited the communities in different areas, it was a joy to be with the community. Most of the people had pulled through the difficult times of the lockdown and were in a way happy to go to work back to work. Since not much could be done in the government offices due to lack of staff, we decided that it would be good to document the history of the communities and later to get it printed. Each dwelling unit has a history, it is important to identify the older members and find their story. This task was not very easy as people get very curious when you gin to write something and they wonder why they s should keep the distance. This is the biggest challenge we face at this time to emphasize the importance of maintaining social distance and to keep themselves safe. While the team members visited different dwelling units and met with the community, it wasn’t very easy to keep the social distance, as crowds gather around you. Yet this difficult task has gone half way. The other aspect of the survey is to have information about the livelihood of people and their annual income. This we believe is the important information of each community to break the myth among the bureaucrats. There is a belief among them that these people co me to the city every other day. They cannot accept the fact that they are living here for decades, as they been denied their basic amenities.
