Fear of demolition at Siphaai Ghat

The new face of changing Patna poses constant insecurity for communities that live on the periphery. The government of Bihar has taken up the speedy development of the city without considering the ground reality. The need for development cannot be at the cost of rendering community’s homeless and snatching the livelihood of our people. The irony of the entire matter is that there is no plan whatsoever to rehabilitate or resettle the people who are affected by the project. Though every developmental project has a component of the project affected people yet there is no clue what has happened about the money. People are hounded after as though they are not citizens of this state. There is no one who can be approached on this issue and listen to the pleas and struggles of the people. When the representatives approach the Commissioner of Patna Municipal Corporation or the District Magistrate of Patna, no one takes any responsibility; rather the buck is being thrown from one to the other. The community at Siphaai Ghat in their distress approached us and did not know where to go, though a verbal notice has been served. On the other hand people also remain cool, till trouble knocks at their dood.
