Feeding the hungry – the beggars
During the three days of prayer, fasting and silence, my reflection took me back as to how tangibly to reach out to the hungry. Having experienced to be without food out of choice, this compelled me to act immediately. I was inspired to feed the hungry whom we often encounter when we go to the railway station. I shared this inspiration with my team and they responded with a positivity that kept the ball rolling. We decided to shop, cook and then distribute the food. We managed to make some 100 packets of egg biryani. The joy of working together to prepare food was another experience. Amidst fun, laughter and dedication, the preparation for cooking began, shelling peas, peeling potatoes, peeling eggs, chopping onion and vegetables was a good experience. As the biryani got ready, we had our lunch and then began packing the food; we wanted it to be hot and delicious and another ingredient was love and care, which was filled with determination. Then around 6.00 we went to the place where beggars congregated and we began our work. In no time the packets had disappeared. At the end of the day we felt satisfied to have brought relief to some of the people were in need.
