Floods – a man made disaster
Natural calamities occur due to lopsided development. Nature takes vengeance and gives us signs yet we are unable to learn from such lessons. The recent floods in Patna have many faces to be seen and while there was an equality in suffering, the ones who reached out to the flood hit victims were the people on the periphery who at the risk of their lives reached out to the well to do with food material.
While some people were filled with empathy and distributed food packets, the larger community was indifferent to the plight of people. The negligence of those in authority to clean the drains and pumps has been responsible for this tragedy.
