In gratitude to ur International community through PSI
After the second phase of covid -19, it was very difficult to get phone calls and to hear from the other side ‘we are hungry’. How does one respond to these calls? How can you not feel with people, how do you come to terms with what is happening? It was such cries that forced us to respond with empathy to this situation. We got in touch with our benefactors and requested for help. To our surprise we got a good response and were able to respond immediately. Through the Presentation Society of India, we were in a position to reach out to 100 families. Each of them got 5 kgs – rice; 2 kgs – masoor dal; 2 kgs gram dal; 2 kgs – gram; 1 kg of salt; soya bean nuggets; 1 kg roasted gram flour.
One of the most important beneficiaries were the leprosy patients, the most deserving victims. At the end of the day when we have made the packets and distributed the food grains there is a sense of satisfaction, a sense of joy. May we continue be enabled to reach out to those in need. At the same time we pray that humanity will always remain alive.
Another area was the paying of school dues fees of children. As the covid – 19 affected the people, many lost jobs, and others were struggling to pay fees due as sudden illness in the family. Living in a joint family some earning members were getting only 50% of their salary; however it was a challenge to have enough to eat.
Women who are widowed suffered the most as they had no other alternative and were struggling. The opening of petty shops has made it possible for them to earn enough to keep the body intact. There are many more who need this type of help, we have to just wait and see when this can be realized.
We are grateful to God for this opportunity which has helped us to get in touch with the struggling communities. When it came to the distribution of food grains it was all the more difficult. How to choose 100 families when there were some 300 families who needed rations? Yet we were able to reach at least 3 blind people, 2 differently abled persons and some 18 leprosy patients.
We would like to place on record the manner in which we experienced God’s Providence, as we were able to be with people in their need. May the Almighty bless all our benefactors who reached out at this time of great need, proving to us that we share one common planet – Mother Earth.
