Jointly celebrating Iftiar and Holi
It’s not by sheer accident that the three major celebrations were jointly celebrated….. the festival of colors, the opening of the fast, the iftiar feast and the commemoration of the Passion, suffering and death of Jesus.
A group of us gathered together representing the three major religions of our country to express our diversity and to believe that we are one nation, preserving our distinctive identities, yet being one. This kind of celebration is more needed today than ever before because hatred and enmity is flooding the lives of our people; suddenly suspicion, mistrust has become the norm of the day.
As we greeted each other helped our Muslim friends to open their fast, we partook of the goodies that was brought by different people. We applied the color on the faces of each other and partook of the delicacies that were laid on the table.
Once again reminding us that we need to be supportive of each other, creating harmony, unity and fellowship. Long live our democracy
