Liazioning for right to Food

The aftermath of the lockdown brought out the harsh truth of livelihood denied to many who are engaged in the informal sector. Some of the stories which were shared were pathetic of people not having food, or just having a meal a day. The deeper we went into this issue, the more we felt that we needed to do something concrete to bring about a change. We began to work on the PDS and we realized that food was not regular and it was rather scarce and we had to pursue the PDS. It was quite astonishing how some people did not get rations during the lockdown. Some others shared that in the giving of the rations the full amount was not given. Others were denied because their finger prints did not match and any amount of reasons for this could be found out. So, the team visited different dwelling units and tried to device a survey as to which dealers were not giving the rations and find reasons behind the non procurement of food grains. When you can find work for only half the month, if there are rations available at least food security is there hope that no one will die of starvation.
