The fire that broke out on the 17, May was devastating, bringing life to a standstill for eh people who resides on road no. 30. As compensation they were given a cheque for 9800/- a cross cheque but having lost their identity cards and all their documents it was difficult for them to encash the cheque. Running from pillar to post and patiently waiting for some relief was a common pattern for days. The team members worked hard meeting different officials, doing the paper work and ensuring that people would get their right. After nearly three weeks we succeeded to get a solution to the problem. A bearer cheque was eventually give to each head of the family, they have to affix their photograph and get it approved from the local urban representative (the ward councilor). It gives us great joy when something positive happens to the people who are always denied their rights.
