Opening of handpump at PNT

One of the biggest problems the communities living on the periphery face is the issue of water. Through the government has a project of ‘every house…has a tap’..This still has to be realized as few pipes are installed and on paper it shows that every house has a tap. Water is basic to life and those who live on the periphery have to satisfy themselves without water. There is no sensitivity towards the plight of the people; at times it feels that people do not matter. With some support we were able to get help from some agency to enable us to install hand pumps in five areas. To install the hand pump at PNT was a real challenge as every time we tried to dig, we found stones and had to change the site. At times it was like we give up this idea and forget about it but when we thought of the need of water, we pursued it with many hassles and difficulties. At last on the 02, June, the opening of the hand pump was done in the midst of a few people from the community. We hope this will benefit the community. Now they have to take care of the hand pump and ensure that it is kept in use without too much pressure.
