Opening of night shelter at Bodhy Gaya
Winter is always a time of challenges for those who are homeless, for daily wage earners, migrant workers who come to the town in search of employment. It is a time to work together with the administration and ensure shelters are put up for those who sleep in the open sky. Being on the shelter committee appointed by the Supreme Court gives me the leverage to ensure that shelters will be of good standard.
The former Assistant Commissioner of Patna Municipal Corporation is now posted in Gaya and he contacted me to visit Bodh Gaya and be the chief guest to open the shelter. It was really a joy to be there, to find the leadership of women in the front taking responsibility as ward councilors. There is hope if we women are able to rise above our personal goals and work together to bring about a new society, a new world.
