Providing rations to the vulnerable
As a gesture of completion of two years as being appointed archbishop of Patna, archbishop Sebastian expressed his desire to do something concrete for the people who live in difficult situations. It was during one of our interactions with the community at Adaltghat that we were spotted engaging with the community. This perhaps remained in the mind of Fr. Amal the procurator of the diocese. He apprised the archbishop that maybe food grains could be distributed to the families who resided there. When the information was shared with us, we swung into action, preparing the list, ensuring that duplicates slips were not given to a single family. Some 80 families availed of the rations – 10 kgs rice, 2 kgs dal, 1 liter cooking oil, 1 kg beaten rice. It was heartening to see them carry the bundle and move ahead to their dwelling. The rations would provide them with food security for at least 10 to 15 days in the biting cold when work is difficult.
