Famously known as ‘Old Paani Tanki’, the community here is heterogeneous. Majority of them were evicted from Ashok Nagar and came and pitched their tent among this community. The biggest challenge to this dwelling is because they reside along the roadside and fall in the danger zone. Living here for decades, they have been denied basic amenities – like toilets and submersible. With the appointment of the ‘city ambassadors’, they are empowered and have had no fer in expressing and demanding their rights. The commissioner has ordered boring to be made and water to be made available for the community.
