Relief to the victims of flood
In the face of so much pain and suffering, it is only natural one would response with compassion to the people who have gone through hell three continuous days due to incessant rains. Conducting a door to door survey was very important and identifying the families. In such situation people tend to get two slips to prove they are deserving. It is a Herculean task and I’m very proud of my team who did this very diligently and conducted a survey of 1000 families.
Relief material was a collaboration of Caritas India, Archdiocese of Patna and the social wing of the archdiocese. With this strong network, we were in a position to give the communities some good relief material – plastic buckets, bedsheet, mosquito net, sanitary pads, 5 bathing and 5 washing soap, a plastic sheet 5 kgs rice and 2 ks dal. This was something people did not expect yet at the end of the day on the 14th & 15th October we were in a position to distribute this relief material to 1000 families. This is only a drop in the ocean but nevertheless it made a difference to those people. We thank God for enabling us to reach out to these communities.
