Remembering Bapuji on his 75th assassination day
It was great pride and joy we remembered the Father of our Nation – Bapuji on his 75th assassination. It was that unfortunate and fateful day in 1948 when Bapuji fell dead to the bullets of his assassain Nathuram Godse. Mahatma Gandhi was the one who led the freedom struggle and in a very nonviolent manner gave a clear message to the British –
‘Quit India’. As the people gathered from the settlements we waited for a while and began the program by standing up in silence for two minutes to pay homage to this great person. Many of those present also shared their thoughts about the great Mahatma. Though Gandhi is often forgotten by our country people, he is very much remembered and honored abroad especially in South Africa. The weapon used by Gandhi was non violent, he embodied in his person Peace, nonviolence and brotherhood. Though Gandhi is not alive in our midst but his thoughts and values will always continue to guide every Indian on the path of nonviolence. Today when the seeds of hatred are being sown, we have to replace this with love to remind our people that though we are different yet our diversity is our wealth.
