Solidarity with Kosi river Satygrahis
The Kosi river joins Ganga in the Katihar district of Bihar. Kosi is also known as the sorrow of Bihar as this causes a flood in the region. The Kosi River is also known as SaptaKosi because of its seven tributaries. In Nepal it emerges from the mountains with other tributaries and becomes the Koshi. After flowing through Birat nagar & other places in Nepal it enters into Bihar near Bhimnagar, district Supaul and after flowing approx. 260 km joins the Ganges near Kursela, district Katihar.
The communities who live along the bank of the river have to live in utter fear, displaced as the water enters into their homes, losing their cattle and livelihood. Due to non compliance of both the governments of Nepal and India, the people have to go through a lot of stress. A small band of people most among them women and young girls walked 260 kms to Patna to register their protest. In spite of prior notice and information to the government agencies no body was available to meet and listen to their pain and suffering. So callous can a government be as to not to be available to people. We stood in solidarity with the people and encouraged especially the young girls to keep the struggle going, with the belief that one day they will overcome all fear and will get their rights.
