The Indian Social Forum took place in Patna, Bihar from, 02 to 04 December at the historic and famous ground of the Bihar vidyapeeth, the residence of the first President of independent India namely Dr Rajendra Prasad...
The ambience created was prominent about the struggles of the common people...many came from different states like Kerala, Tamil.Nadu, Maharashtra, Odisha, UP, Chattisgarh, Kashmir. The powerful. message was " Another world is possible...is important ."
A good number of young people present. gave the message that they have the power and conviction to be the change they want to see.
We at Aashray Abhiyan participated in the parallel session of youth. power. We had 100 young girls participate and got to know about what their strength is...500 people construction workers, people from the settlements participated in two parallel sessions " Labour rights...challenges and strategies...Medha Patkar was the chief guest and a local union.leader Jamidar ji also addressed the Gathering..
The second Gathering was on " Inclusive cities - Right to Housing". The main speaker was Mukund Singh, ex MLA Maheswari Yadav....
Prerna Kala Manch, a cultural team from Varanasi led by Anand IMS staged two street plays. One depicted the role of politics to divide people on the basis of religion. The second the destruction of our common home Mother Earth....
The ISF raised hope among people's movements as a way forward...distinguished guests like Harsh Mander, Dr. Sayeeda Hamid, Medha Patkar, Anjali Bhardwaj, Kavita Shrivastava, Shabnam Hashmi, Vijay Prakash, Anil Mishra, Ashok Bharti, Avinash, Sunilam, addressed the Gathering during the Plenary session.
The conclusion resounded with an apt song led by one of the youngsters...." Yeh waqt ki awaaz hi mil ke chalo....
The ISF leads to the WSF 2024 at Kathmandu, Nepal....
