Training on housing Rights
Working with the ‘city makers’ for now near to two decades and focusing on right to housing as a’ right to life’, we feel compelled to empower our people to oppose eviction. Though theoretically things are put in place and one would feel that the vulnerable with get their due; in reality this is far from the truth. To live in insecurity and to be unable to live a dignified life is something so common in Patna. The human person is not valued, his caste, creed and gender play an important place in decisions that affect his life adversely.
Joining hands with ‘Human Rights Law Network’, our dream to empower the communities who are threatened by eviction was important. Two days training was organized at ‘Navjyoti Niketan’ for representatives from 5 districts of Bihar. In the face of opposition there is a need for communities to show their strength; to be united and to fight the enemy. The training was very fruitful as very important aspects were discussed. Creative methodologies and interactive sessions kept the tempo up and bonding took place.
The participants were enthused to take this struggle forward at the end of the training.
