With the minister for housing and urban development
It seems that the bureaucracy and the administration have no heart for the poor, for the poor. They find every reason to harass them making life difficult for them. It is pathetic that those living along the roadside have to be hushed out just because they plan to convert that piece of land into a park. So insensitive are they that it doesn’t disturb them when they see them living in the open air.
It is horrible, painful heartbreaking to see differently challenged women, the elderly struggling to live a dignified life. They keep asking the question, where to go? We have been living in this vicinity for decades and suddenly they want to grab this land and convert into a park.
After approaching every means to get a hearing we decided to meet the Minister for housing and urban development. He assured us that he would call up the executive Officer of the zone and give a stay. We went away delighted that at least there will be a temporary relief. After an hour or so, the forest department said it is their purview and would not pay heed to the department of urban and housing.
This is how the game is played, pushing the buck from one to the other and no one taking responsibility for the callous action. Yet, we keep going and are making efforts to raise this issue in the Monsoon session of the Legislative Assembly.
